Time Well Spent

Groups

Welcome to the Groups off Time Well Spent page, where you'll find an exciting array of groups suggested by members, delivered by Time Well Spent, which is managed by Yoker Resource Centre.
Our programs cater to diverse interests and are designed to bring the community together to reduce isolation. Some groups require booking due to their popularity, as they tend to fill up quickly, while others are open to the public. For more information about each group, please see the details below.
We look forward to seeing you soon!

Friends On A Walk

Social Support

We are dedicated to providing social support for individuals over 65 in the G13 and G14 areas. Our social support groups are available by referral only, they operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. This group utilises the Yoker Resource Centre's escorted community transport service, ensuring that seniors can access this service and engage with the community. By facilitating transportation, we aim to enhance the quality of life for older adults, helping them stay connected and active within their neighbourhoods.

Social Support for Arabic speakers over 65

We are dedicated to providing social support for all individuals over 65 in the G13 / G14 areas. On Tuesday morning between 10.30 and 11.30, we host social support groups for those who experience loneliness and isolation due to a language barrier and who may need help accessing mainstream services.

This group is run by volunteers and staff who are native Arabic speakers. We aim to enhance the quality of life for older adults, helping them stay connected and active within their neighbourhoods..

Wellbeing calls

Staying Connected, Even From Home.

At Time Well Spent, we understand that not everyone can attend our social support groups in person. That’s why we offer a Wellbeing Call programme, led by a dedicated volunteer whose goal is to reduce isolation among older people in our community.

Through regular friendly phone calls — and the occasional handwritten letter — we help make sure that no one feels forgotten. These calls offer companionship, conversation, and a chance to stay connected from the comfort of home.

Live locally and know someone who might benefit?

If you know an older person living in the G13 or G14 areas who could use a friendly check-in, you can refer them to our Wellbeing Call programme. We’ll be happy to reach out and welcome them into the Time Well Spent community.

Speakers who help.

In our social support group, we are committed to enhancing the experience and resources available to our members. To achieve this, we regularly invite guest speakers, including representatives from the community police, fire and safety departments, as well as various local and national charities. This initiative is based on requests from our members and aims to bring essential services directly to those who may face significant barriers in accessing mainstream support. By connecting our group with key resources, we strive to empower our members and ensure they receive the help they need.

Craft for charity

Join us every Tuesday afternoon from 1 to 3 PM for the Crafting for charity group. This is a group of crafters who want to make a real impact in their community. Over the past year, our dedicated craft group, led by staff and volunteers, have created a variety of toys, trauma dolls, blankets, and hats for those in need. Even community members who can't attend the centre due to illness or work commitments have generously contributed by making items at home. We invite you to come along, get involved, and help us spread warmth and kindness in our community! This group is only a £2 suggested donation.
